Tapcart

Tapcart turns a Shopify store into a native iOS and Android app. Dynasort works with it on two levels. The sorting you already run reaches the app on its own, because Tapcart reads collections straight from Shopify. On top of that you can connect Tapcart’s clickstream webhook so the browsing, carts and orders that happen inside the app show up in Dynasort Insights.

Dynasort writes every ranking into the collection’s order in Shopify. Tapcart reads collections from Shopify and shows the products in that order, so the following work in the app with nothing to connect:

  • Collection sorting. Every collection Dynasort sorts is sorted the same way in the app, on the same schedule.
  • Pins and boosts. A product you pin to a position, or boost inside a recipe, lands in that spot in the app too.
  • Sort Rotation. A rotation changes the Shopify order, so the app follows each step.
  • Managed collections. A Dynasort managed collection is a normal Shopify collection. Publish it to the Tapcart sales channel and you can point any Tapcart home-screen block at it. A “Trending” or “Selling fast” managed collection makes a good app landing block.
  • Order-based attributes. Orders placed in the app are ordinary Shopify orders, so sales velocity, revenue and margin attributes already include them.

Dynasort re-sorts on your plan’s schedule. Tapcart picks up Shopify changes within a few minutes of a sort. If a collection looks stale in the app, force-close and reopen it.

Shopify web pixels only run in a browser. Inside a native app there is no pixel, so on its own Dynasort sees the orders your app produces but none of the browsing that led to them. Tapcart’s clickstream webhook fixes that: Tapcart sends each in-app action to a URL you choose, and Dynasort gives every store its own URL.

  1. In Dynasort, open Settings and scroll to Tapcart mobile app. Copy the Clickstream webhook URL.
  2. In the Tapcart dashboard, open Settings, then Webhooks. Turn the feature on, paste the URL and choose which events to send. Select all events, or at least collectionViewed, productViewed, cartAdd and purchaseCompleted. Save.
  3. Open your app and browse a collection. Back in Dynasort Settings, the Tapcart card shows how many events have arrived and when the last one landed.

Opening the URL in a browser shows a short confirmation naming your store, which is a quick way to check it was pasted correctly.

Tapcart eventWhat Dynasort records
applicationOpened, pageViewStarts or continues an app session
collectionViewedA collection view
productViewedA product view
cartAddAn add to cart for each product that was added
purchaseCompletedAn order, linked to the session that produced it

Every other event is accepted and ignored. Sessions are cut the same way as web sessions, after an hour of inactivity, and appear in Insights once the normal processing runs, usually within a few hours.

Dynasort keeps the anonymous device identifier Tapcart assigns, the event time and the product, collection or order id. It does not store names, emails, customer ids or push tokens. Shoppers who have opted out of tracking in the app are never recorded.

  • Insights session counts, collection conversion and the timeline include app sessions alongside web sessions.
  • Co-occurrence attributes (viewed together, carted together, bought together) learn from app behaviour too, which sharpens recommendations for both channels.

Generate a new URL on the Tapcart card retires the current one immediately. Use it if the URL was shared somewhere it should not have been. Paste the new URL into Tapcart afterwards.

Search and merchandising apps inside Tapcart

Section titled “Search and merchandising apps inside Tapcart”

Tapcart lets you connect a search or merchandising provider (Algolia, Searchspring, Nosto, Fast Simon, Constructor, Boost, Searchanise and others). When one is connected, that provider decides the order of products in the app’s collection grids, so Dynasort’s order can be overridden in the app while the web store still shows it. If you rely on Dynasort for collection order, either leave the provider’s collection merchandising off or use it for search only.

Shopify Search and Discovery is different. In Tapcart it adds sort and filter controls to collection pages; the collection’s default order stays the one Shopify holds, which is Dynasort’s.

Dynasort’s own search re-ranking and product recommendation widgets run on your web storefront and do not render inside a Tapcart app.

If you enable Push Rank to Metafields, each product carries its rank position, score and percentile as metafields. Tapcart can read product metafields once Storefront API access is enabled on the metafield definition in Shopify (Settings, then Metafields and metaobjects), and can show them in product page blocks or use them in conditional visibility rules. Tapcart badges are driven by product tags, so a “Top 10” badge needs a tag as well, which a tagging app or Shopify Flow can add.

The app shows a different order than the web store. Give Tapcart a few minutes after a sort, then force-close and reopen the app. If the difference persists, check whether a search or merchandising provider is connected in Tapcart, and confirm the collection is enabled in Dynasort.

No events are arriving. Open the webhook URL in a browser. If it returns a message naming your store, the URL is right and the webhook toggle or event selection in Tapcart is the place to look. If it returns an error, copy the URL again from Dynasort Settings.

Orders show but no browsing. The webhook is not connected, or only purchaseCompleted is selected. Add the browsing events.

Tapcart is a separate subscription. In short: install it from the Shopify App Store, design the app in Tapcart’s App Studio, and publish through your own Apple Developer and Google Play accounts. Tapcart’s own guides cover the details: Adding products and collections, Connecting clickstream webhooks and their FAQ.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dynasort work with Tapcart?

Yes. Tapcart shows each collection in the order Shopify holds, and Dynasort writes its ranking into that order. Every collection Dynasort sorts is sorted the same way in your Tapcart app with nothing to connect. Optionally, connect Tapcart's clickstream webhook so in-app shopper behaviour reaches Dynasort Insights.

Do I need to connect anything for the app to show Dynasort's order?

No. Dynasort applies its sort through Shopify's collection order, and Tapcart reads that order. The only requirement is that the products and the collection are published to the Tapcart sales channel in Shopify, which is how Tapcart decides what appears in the app.

How long after a re-sort does the app update?

Dynasort re-sorts on your plan's schedule and Tapcart picks up Shopify changes within a few minutes. If a collection looks stale in the app, force-close and reopen it.

Why does Insights need a webhook for app traffic?

Shopify web pixels only run in a browser. Inside a native app there is no pixel, so without the webhook Dynasort sees the orders your app produces but none of the browsing that led to them. Tapcart's clickstream webhook sends each in-app action to Dynasort so app sessions show up alongside web sessions.

Which Tapcart events does Dynasort use?

applicationOpened and pageView start a session, collectionViewed, productViewed and cartAdd record browsing and carts, and purchaseCompleted records the order. Other events are accepted and ignored. Shoppers who have opted out of tracking in the app are never recorded.

Does Dynasort store personal data from the app?

No. Dynasort keeps the anonymous device identifier Tapcart assigns, the event time, and the product, collection or order id. It does not store names, emails, customer ids or push tokens.

I connected a search app to Tapcart. Will Dynasort's order still show?

Maybe not. When a search or merchandising provider is connected in Tapcart, that provider decides the order of products in collection grids, so Dynasort's order can be overridden in the app while the web store still shows it. Shopify Search and Discovery adds sort and filter controls without replacing the collection's default order.

Do app orders count in Dynasort's sales attributes?

Yes. Orders placed in a Tapcart app are ordinary Shopify orders, so sales velocity, revenue and every other order-based attribute already include them. Nothing to set up.
